3D Gunstar Heroes (3DS): COMPLETED!

The second game of the day, with Heroes in the title! I never completed Gunstar Heroes back in the day. In fact, I don’t think I ever played it much (I didn’t buy it until many years after release anyway). Or even enjoyed it. Yeah, I’m a heretic. But there’s something about these 3D ports on the 3DS that make you want to play them anyway, isn’t there? Otherwise why did I buy Altered Beast again? Hmm. My main issue …

Gunstar Super Heroes

Played through a bit more as Red. I’ve done Moons 1, 3 and 4 now, without any real problems, but Seven Force on Moon 2 is giving me grief. I don’t remember it being all that difficult as Blue, but I can’t defeat him. Mind you, my save point does only have 40 health when I begin. I might go back a level and try to get a higher amount.

Gunstar Super Heroes

So I decided to start again, and this time play through as Blue. Not that it made a huge amount of difference, as it was still pretty hard. Did manage to get all the way up to the final boss, however. Not really sure how that happened. At least, I think he’s the final boss. He looks like him. And he’s hard. Very hard. And I had to re-kill all of the previous bosses again, one after another, before getting …

Gunstar Super Heroes

Since this GBA game arrived today, it seemed a bit rude not to play it. Started off as Red, and breezed through the Earth and Moon 1 stages. However, then it got a bit hard. Very a bit hard, in fact. I always found the Megadrive original difficult (and, in fact, found most of Treasure’s previous games a bit hard – just look at my previous posts about Astro Boy), but I suspect I’ll stick with this as it is …

3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (3DS): COMPLETED!

Twenty-odd years ago, many a Saturday morning would be spent playing Sonic. Or Sonic 2. Or Sonic 3. And today, a Saturday, I played and completed 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Nintendo 3DS. It was awesome. Like Gunstar Heroes and the first 3D Sonic the Hedgehog, the 3D here is mostly subtle. The original parallax layers are now given actual depth, and although this makes it feel more like a pop-up diorama than properly 3D it still makes …

Top 10 Game Boy Advance Games

Ah, the Game Boy Advance. To many, a portable SNES without enough buttons to effectively be a portable SNES, and one with a screen invisible in all but the glow of a 100W lightbulb. That didn’t stop it from having arguably the best catalogue of games of any system, however, and with the lit screen of the GBA SP (further refined in the GB Micro), it became and remains my favourite handheld ever. And I loved my DS and 3DS a lot. …
